Travel Update

For all the worry and anxiety I had about my weekend away with Dylan, the trip was pretty easy and a lot of fun. Here are the highlights:

Funniest moment: Dylan yelling, rather loudly, to the entire Jet Blue terminal, “Look everyone, look what I got. I have a Tow-Mater!” I had given him a special toy for being a good listener at the airport, and we had just exited the bathroom before boarding the plane. Every single person in the terminal fell quiet and stared at us. I’m just grateful he didn’t yell, “Hey everyone, I have a penis and Mommy doesn’t!”

Most predictable moment: We’re in the security line at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, our shoes are off and in the bins, and we’re waiting to walk through the x-ray machines. Dylan turns to me and says, “Mommy, I have to poop!”

Most surprising moment (but in hindsight, predictable): We’re walking down the gateway to the airplane, in a long line of people, and Dylan sees the (big and scary) door to the airplane and bolts in the other direction. That was fun.

Best line: After the plane took off and we reached our flying altitude, Dylan turned to me and said, “It wasn’t so bad, Mommy.”

Worst moment: When Dylan woke up at 5:30am on Saturday morning yelling, “I have to pee!” Ugh.

Best moment: Besides the utter joy on my parents’ faces when they saw Dylan in person, the reunion with Daddy and Riley when we got home was pretty special. For both of us.
